Adolescents display sexual behaviors and developing characteristics that place them at risk for Sexually Transmitted Disorders (STDs). Because young people experiment sexually and because of the implications of indiscriminate sexual activities on the youth, there is the have to mount sex education programmes that are aimed at enlightenment and appropriate education about sexual and sexuality.


To ascertain whether Sex Education Input Programme would reduce at-risk sexual behaviours of school-going adolescents.

When the treatment (intervention) group was compared with the control group in an intention to treat evaluation, there were significant differences in at-risk sexual behaviors of the two groups. All those in the treatment group reported less at-risk sexual behaviours than all their counterparts inside the control group. The treatment group evaluated the intervention program positively and their knowledge of sexual health better. Lack of behavioural effect on the control group could be associated with differential quality of delivery of involvement.


In contrast to the control group, this kind of specially designed treatment sex education programme decreased at-risk sex behaviour in adolescents. Based on this locating, it was advised that sexual intercourse education always be introduced into the curriculum of secondary college education in Nigeria.
